Steel Seed to trzecioosobowa platformówka dla jednego gracza z elementami parkour i skradanki.

Akcja rozgrywa się w mrocznym świecie fantasy, w którym ludzie są na skraju wyginięcia. Ci, którzy przeżyli, zeszli do podziemia i są monitorowani przez maszyny. Główną bohaterką gry jest dziewczyna-robot, która wraz ze swoim latającym towarzyszem, dronem, eksploruje głębiny wrogich lochów w poszukiwaniu klucza do przetrwania ludzkości.

Rozgrywka obejmuje eksplorację lokacji, pokonywanie przeszkód za pomocą technik parkour, walkę z przeciwnikami za pomocą miecza itp. Oprócz otwartych bitew, wrogów można zniszczyć, skradając się do nich.
