ArmA 2 is a tactical first-person shooter.

The events of the game take place in 2009 on the territory of a fictional post-Soviet state. The main character takes part in the civil war that engulfed the country.

The developers position ArmA 2 as a simulator of real combat operations. Many important factors are really taken into account in the gameplay of the game, in particular, the features of the models of weapons, vehicles, terrain, ballistics, recoil, the need for reloading, equipment damage, the speed of soldiers and vehicles, etc. Even in helicopters, the control is close to reality and will have to be mastered. Most static objects in the game (trees, fences, buildings, etc.) can be destroyed.

In addition to the shooter elements, the game has missions that are more related to the "strategy" genre. In them, you need to organize an assault on enemy strongholds, build your own base, earn money, create units and command the actions of military units.
