ArmA 3 is a tactical shooter with role-playing elements, the third game in the Arma game series.

The game is a combat simulator. Events take place in the future, in the 2030s. In Western Europe, the economic crisis is intensifying, the confrontation between the USA and China is intensifying. In the Pacific region, a new military-political alliance consisting of Iran, China, and the "African regiment" is gaining strength. Several parties are involved in the hostilities: NATO, the mentioned union, the Gendarmerie of Tano Island, the armed forces of the Russian Federation, the troops of the Republic of Altis and Stratis, rebel formations, criminal syndicates, etc.

The player controls combat operations in a massive military "sandbox" (a virtual analogue of a territory with an area of about 290 sq. km). The most diverse types of weapons, equipment settings for close and long-range combat, more than 20 types of combat equipment are available, as well as huge opportunities for independent content creation (you can create scenarios, equipment, weapons, etc.).

There is both a single story campaign and online multiplayer.
